Manjari Sharma was born in 12 December (1979) to a modest family in Mumbai, India. Manjari's first Undergraduate degree was in Mumbai, a BS from the department of Visual Communication from S.V.T. College in Juhu; This is where her love for photography began. Encouraged by accolades Manjari soon started to freelance with The Times of India and was hired as a Staff Photojournalist with Better Photography magazine, a well respected South Asian photography publication. The chase to learn and grow brought Manjari to the US in 2001, where she pursued her BFA in photography from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. Midwestern kindness and vast Ohio pastures were not the picture of America she expected but concedes that a culture shock is what transforms banal travel into an adventure. In 2006 Manjari moved back to India to reconnect with her roots. During her time in India she road-tripped and backpacked through her native land for six months and then moved to New York City in late 2007.
Some of her selected recent achievements: Selected as a featured photographer and for the cover of PDN EDU spring issue 2010; she received eight honorable mentions at the IPA Lucie awards and was recognized as a winner for the NYC Strand photo contest, judged by Lesley Martin from Aperture amongst other honorable judges. Two of Manjari's images were selected by John Paul Caponigro for the Centre for Fine Art Photography. Her work was selected for Slideluck Potshow 2009 and PDN Photo of The Day Blog. 1000 Words Magazine, Fraction Magazine, Exposure Compensation, nymphoto blog, Burn Magazine and Lenscratch have endorsed her latest body of work. Her selected clients include AOL, American baby, Penguin Books, AARP, American Lawyer and Grohe India Pvt. Ltd. Manjari currently lives and freelances in Brooklyn, NY and is available to be hired for assignments worldwide.
